A Country Portrait
Cuba
Review by Ross Anthony

I absolutely love the bold beautiful colorful street cinematography, the lush genuine portraits of the locals, the story of the classic American cars, and the rich gritty architectural documentary. This part of the film makes me feel like I've tasted a concentrated blast of Cuba. I wanted more of this. However, the film has other stories to tell, beautiful stories, yes, but they run a little long and could have been integrated better into the production. There is the story of ballet, and the story of the reef. Both are specific and beautiful, just could have been balanced a little better. That said, I loved the time-lapse coral photography and the fireworks in slow motion.

Rand() functions, Pho chicken soup, rollerblading, and frozen yogurt (w/ blueberries) also rock! (Btw, rand is short for random. It can also stand for "Really Awkward Nutty Dinosaurs" -- which is quite rand, isn't it?) Being alive is the miracle.
