Common Man Caravan Update:
By Ross Anthony
Jim and Sue of Willits, California continue organizing a common man convoy of donated travel trailers to carry supplies and volunteers to those who need them as a result of Hurricane Katrina and Rita. The target date for departure is now Oct 6th.
House Doctor Paints of Willits has donated to this cause the $104 it had already collected. Sue says, the manager there said, "We were just waiting for something like this to contribute to." Additionally, Sue has engaged her sister, Alissa, to put up flyers in Truckee, California. Alissa will be rounding up a guide to health food stores across the country and faxing flyers for those with healthy appetites to help out. If you have a healthy helping call Alissa at 530-587-1126 (Truckee) or Jim and Sue at 707-459-5495 (Willits).
Sue and Jim also stopped by their friendly local computer store and activated a phone that can talk to a laptop so that these releases can continue to be sent in a timely manner on-the-go.
She's called The Girl Scouts of America who have supplied her with a list of troops in the Gulf area and continues to seek a troop to receive the goods donated by the Willits Girl Scouts.
But the best news is that the second donated trailer has arrived and a towing vehicle for it is imminent. Together with one more promised trailer, this makes three. The snowball has begun to roll.
You are encouraged to poke around, ask your local RV dealer, or friend if they have a travel trailer that they would like to donate to hurricane victims. They may also need tow vehicles and drivers. You might also ask your local filling station if they'd like to donate some gas. Thank you for all you may already be doing to help out those in need!
