Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire
Review by Ross Anthony

This is simply a sweet little mixing board. I'm experiencing near non-existent latency when recording. The sound is clean. The effects are nice, though, there is no real delay. Mostly these are hall/reverb type effects. It's a small mixer that I used to record a full CD worth of songs through. I also use it as a live mixer live. I just add a couple of powered speakers and I've got power enough for a smaller venue. I really appreciate its compact size.

Drawbacks: You can only record two tracks at a time via firewire. To record with the effects, I'm told you need a patch cord or two. I've not done it, my software has enough effects. It heats up. I keep it propped, so the bottom can get some air flow. Lastly, I'm not crazy about the vertical input jacks. That's a small drawback, if I cared enough I would buy patch cords that have the 90 degree angle jack.

Overall, gets a lot of jobs done cheaply and respectably. I like it! For a sound sample go to RossAnthonyShow.com. To purchase a copy of one of my CD's go to: RossAnthony.com and click on Good Books & Good Music. Enjoy the day!
