15 minute Charger
Review by Ross Anthony

I love this little unit. The batteries are expensive and that's no fun. But, you can use them over and over and over and over. And you don't have to worry about keeping them charged. You just charge your batteries while you're in the shower or something before you leave the house with your walkman or Palm or digi cam. It is just so convenient to charge them FULL in 15 minutes. Don't waste your time with overnight chargers.

Don't have a charger? Yikes! Are you throwing away a lot of used up batteries? Stop that. Go get all rechargeabled. It is absolutely cheaper in the long run and you're not putting all sorts of nasty waste into landfills. Plus you'll be kind of tech-cool.

Btw, this charger also charges other products' rechargeable batteries (if you happen to have a bunch of batteries from your old charger) -- but they'll still take overnight to charge.

Drawbacks: I wish it had a nine-volt battery charge option.

A note on Battery Power:
1) You don't want Nicads (NiCd) -- they have a nasty memory effect and lose capacity over the years -- sometimes months, depending on your usage. If you have Nicads, always discharge them to near empty (but not empty) before recharging -- then don't interrupt that charge (see how temperamental). 2) NiMH -- I love these. Can recharge when partially discharged without worry -- last longer in short runs than Alkalines, but charge dissipates over months. That means, for things like walkmans and digital cameras that drain batteries fast ... use NiMh is better for everyone. You don't end up throwing out a lot of batteries and the Nimh will last longer. IE... you can listen to more music out of the walkman over the course of the month. However, if you just listen to one song a month on your walkman, then Alkalines are better. 3) There are other applications for which rechargeables are not best. Don't use them for units that slowly use electricity over the course of months and years -- like Clocks. Use Alkalines for that or other non-rechargeables that don't dissipate their charges so fast.
