Swine Flew
Dead Pigs
Review by Ross Anthony

Strong acting and distinctive rich direction tie these handful of quirky street level story lines together. Beautifully filmed, each scene is loved. The production builds beautifully to a point, but lags just a bit there, eventually easing into a “nice”, though less than spectacular, climax.

The overall feel is modern contrasted by the old, with a surreal opening that sweet-dreamily brings the viewer into the story. Everyone acts well, though Yan Haoyu (left in above production still) absolutely nails his roll as the pathetic, but lovable brother.

I quite enjoyed the film, but expected a bit more from the climax and resolution. B+/A- I'll round up. I also enjoyed Yan's direction in "Birds of Prey."
