Breaked Up
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Review by Ross Anthony

Forgetting Sarah Marshall Did you enjoy Knocked Up or Superbad? No? Then you're likely not to enjoy this film. However, if you answered "Yes" to one or both of those titles, you'll no doubt enjoy "Sarah Marshall" as well. Judd Apatow isn't the only common denominator here (you'll see several familiar faces bringing to life the quirky supporting characters). But Apatow is the writer/producer on this picture and the name people are following.

Though a bit awkward out of the gates, the writers have jam packed this picture with unexpected (albeit often obscene) hilarious moments. In fact, while the awkwardness simmers, it never quite evaporates serving as a great "straight man" that grounds this adult-humor comedy. The film is rated R for a reason, both in verbal content and in the visual. Still, somehow FSM is less raunchy than the two films mentioned earlier, making it, dare I say, slightly more respectable. And as with the other two, the filmmakers are sure to bring us the all-important measure of heart.

The interjected quickie flashback scenes add even more juice and are edited smartly. Further, the scenes spoofing TV's CSI incarnations are very funny and welcome. While mildly awkward moments abound, so do the belly busting, laugh out loud hits.
