The trailer grabbed me with its incredible artistic design - and on that front the feature film did not disappoint. I marveled at that very specific color blue spot-painted on the near-1960's period recreations which are futuristically adapted in beautiful artful ways. I love the way this film looks!
Other positives: our heroes are all "kind and warm," you will be endeared. And while the film boldly braves some very interesting and difficult subject matter relating to family and kin verses obligation (if any) to humanity, the film decides to spend more time on flash-bang action than exploring the intricacies of a conundrum more suited for a novel than a superhero film. Go figure.
The plot itself is simply silly, though I do appreciate how earnestly the team sets out to (once again) defend their world against a villain that travels the universe to get what he wants. Though, confoundedly, this all-powerful being still has to walk several miles once he literally "jumps off" his space craft to the planet where the object of his desire resides.
This has been compared to the 2004 animated feature The Incredibles. Trailers are comparable. Feature-wise, well, I gave The Incredibles an A+.
